In the Year 2000

I present you with pictures from the Y2K celebration I attended in New York City. These pictures that I took impress even me. I marvel at some of these pictures and think that I could have become a professional photographer.... I could have made something out of my life. I could have been somebody.... Alas, I threw it all away.

If you can't figure out, I'm being sarcastic. Many of these pictures embody the drunken state that I was in at the time and are utterly incomprehensible. However, my photographic style was actually inspired by a famous photographer. You guessed who- Austin Powers. If you have seen Austin doing a photoshoot (credits of first movie, early scene in second), then you know exactly what my picture-taking style was like that night. Carelessly flicking away dozens of pictures while yelling "Yeah Baby" is in fact quite a drain on the wallet, although it is so much fun while it lasts and makes for some intriguing photos. If you have a slow modem and it takes a long time to downloading the pictures, you might just shake your head at what are possibly some of the worst pictures on the internet. I assure you however that there are a few pictures which are worth seeing.

Most of the pictures were taken at Ojas and Andrei's apartment. It was so awesome to see most of my college blocking group. Andrei and Ojas threw an amazing Millenium Party. I want to especially thank them for allowing us/me to trash their place while they spent hundreds of their own dollars on such a kickass party. I also want to give special recognition to everybody at who came party including- Abdur-Rahman, Allen, Amee, Andrew, Anjali, Birgit, Dave, Eric, Hai Van, Nadeem, Nat, Sudhir, Tara, Tobi, and a score of other people who I never saw before in my life. It was so awesome to see you all!! I also want to send a special hello to Becky who couldn't make it because she was in Senegal.

Thus far Y2K has been going very well for me. I haven't encountered any major problems so far, although I think the gear system on my bike has developed a Y2K glitch. I wish everyone a happy new millenium and luck on their New Year's resolutions. (Mine is to stop playing that awful XBoing game.) Please enjoy the pictures and send comments.
